BERLIN - More than 1,000 toads have puffed up and exploded in a Hamburg pond in recent weeks, and scientists still have no explanation for what's causing the combustion, an official said Wednesday.

So we went to our first tournament--Kishwaukee, up close to the Wisconsin border.

SIC won. I brought three events and broke in three events. I won extemp, got second in impromptu, and got fifth in informative--making me the top point getter on the SIC team and the second highest point getter at the entire tournament.

Not bad for my first college tournament, no?

Sorry I haven't been around lately, y'all.

I have a blog now for my boring political rhetoric.

Since I only speak political-speak anymore, I don't have any reason to have a journal for talking about anything else.

I may occasionally update with a comical picture of GWB. And I'll read your journals from time to time still.

G'day y'all.

"We live amid surfaces, and the true art of life is to skate well on them."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson quote I had to write a huge friggen English paper based on last year.

"I hate quotations. Tell me what you know."
- Another Ralph Waldo Emerson quote I just came across.

"Saddam Hussein took us to war once before. In that war, young Americans were killed. He went to war in order to take over the oil fields. It wasn't just an invasion of Kuwait. He was heading for the oil fields of Saudi Arabia. And that would have had a profound effect on the security of the United States. This is a man who has used weapons of mass destruction, unlike other people on this Earth today, not only against other people but against his own people. This is a man who tried to assassinate a former president of the United States, a man who lobbed 36 missiles into Israel in order to destabilize the Middle East, a man who is so capable of miscalculation that he even brought this war on himself. This is a man who, if he was left uncaptured, would have continued to be able to organize the Ba'athists. He would have continued to terrorize the people, just in their minds, because of 30 years of terror in Iraq."

SEOUL, South Korea - A large explosion occurred in the northern part of North Korea (news - web sites), sending a huge mushroom cloud into the air on an important anniversary of the communist regime, a South Korean news agency reported Sunday.

"At least $8.8 billion in Iraqi funds that was given to Iraqi ministries by the former U.S.-led authority there cannot be accounted for, according to a draft U.S. audit set for release soon."

8.8 billion! That's enough to buy everyone in the whole country a Big Mac!

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=615&e=3&u=/nm/20040819/pl_nm/iraq_funds_dc

There are two possible explanations for this:

A) Some idiot Iraqi is hoarding it until ten years from now so he can blow up one of our buildings

Or, B)

Vote Libertarian--because our government is presently run by inefficient morons and it's not getting any better.

Can anyone tell me what this is from?

Travel Agent: Anyway, you're interested in one of our adventure holidays, eh?

Tourist: Yes. I saw your advert in the bolour supplement.

Agent: The what?

Tourist: The bolour supplement.

Agent: The colour supplement?

Tourist: Yes. I'm sorry I can't say the letter 'B'.

Agent: 'C'?

Tourist: Yes, that's right. It's all due to a trauma I suffered when I
was a spoolboy. I was attacked by a bat.

Agent: A cat?

Tourist: No a bat.

Agent: Can you say the letter 'K'?

Tourist: Oh yes. Khaki, king, kettle, Kuwait, Keble Bollege Oxford.

Agent: Why don't you use the letter 'K' instead of the letter 'C'?

Tourist: What you mean ... spell bolour with a 'K'?

Agent: Yes.

Tourist: Kolour. Oh, that's very good, I never thought of that.
